Reception Admissions

Children Starting School September 2024

Parents of pre-schoolers might find it hard to believe that their little ones will be starting school next year!

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 they will be due to start Reception year in September 2024.

It’s really important to apply by the relevant closing date or you may not be considered in the first round of applications. We can’t reserve a place for those who apply late, so you’ll be less likely to get your preferred school. You can name up to three preferences and they can be schools both within and outside North Somerset.

Schools within the Extend Learning Academies Network are:

Banwell Primary School

Bournville Primary School

Locking Primary School

Mead Vale Community Primary School

Mendip Green Primary School

Milton Park Primary School

Oldmixon Primary School

Walliscote Primary School

Windwhistle Primary School

The application window for Reception 2024 opened on Tuesday 12 September 2023. You can apply online at (see guide for applying online) download an application form (see below) or contact the school office if you need assistance with obtaining an application form. The deadline for the submission of applications to North Somerset School Admissions is 11:59pm Monday 15 January 2024.

All applications are processed by North Somerset Council School Admissions. Applications can be returned to the council, in person, by post or electronically.

Our admission arrangements for Bournville, Oldmixon and Windwhistle have a supplementary information form (SIF) to be completed and submitted with your application for school.

Further information can be found in the Starting Schools booklet, or you can contact School Admissions by emailing  or by telephoning 01275 884 078.
