We believe that the best education practice is based on current, valid and relevant, proven evidence, rather than tradition, personal judgement, or other influences.

Before we implement major changes in practice, pilot or feasibility studies are carried out.  These small-scale explorations enable schools to test out new ideas, carry out further research, identify drawbacks and benefits, gather information evaluate and suggest adjustments. Once complete a collaborative decision is be made whether to adopt the new approach across schools or not.

We are currently piloting Comparative Assessment and SEND assessment systems to assess if this will provide schools with a more robust, efficient and accurate way of assessing pupil’s writing and using a more appropriate method of assessing and tracking SEND assessment. A working party created the SEND assessment system and schools started piloting in April 2021.  The pilot will be complete on 21 July 2021 with a view to full implementation in all schools from September.
