    Thu 15 Sep 2022

Extend Learning Academies Network (ELAN) are delighted to welcome new headteachers and senior leaders to Locking Primary School and Mead Vale Primary School this September.

Following a rigorous selection process involving staff, children, school governors and members of the trust Roxanne Simpson was appointed headteacher at Locking Primary School and Jo Jaloszynski was appointed headteacher at Mead Vale Community Primary School in Worle.

Both Roxanne and Jo were experienced deputy headteachers in other ELAN schools, both have been awarded the NPQH (National Professional Qualification Headship) and have been working with their new school teams during the summer term to ensure a smooth transition.

Locking Primary School also welcomes a new deputy headteacher, Sharon Ledbury, Oldmixon Primary School welcome Steve Davis as deputy headteacher and Bournville Primary School welcomes Helen Wright as assistant headteacher.

“We are delighted to have recruited such talented and dedicated leaders who will have a positive impact on the children, staff and communities they serve. I know they will be made welcome in their new schools.”

  • Bank holiday notice

    Mon 12 Sep 2022

Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the Sovereign.

The official date of the State Funeral is Monday 19 September 2022. This day will be a national bank holiday and all schools and colleges will be closed on that date - including all ELAN primary schools; Bournville, Locking, Mead Vale, Mendip Green, Milton Park, Oldmixon, Walliscote and Windwhistle.

Schools reopen as normal on Tuesday 20 September 2022. Normal attendance is expected throughout the National Mourning period, other than the bank holiday.

As with normal bank holidays, on Monday 19 September 2022 there will be no after school clubs, holiday clubs, access to free school meals or school staff for enquiries.

    Yours sincerely,

Extend Learning Academies Network - ELAN

  • Communication during National Mourning

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

As a mark of respect to our late Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our social media activity and that of our schools will be operating on a much reduced basis during this time of national mourning.

Non-urgent content will not be published. We understand that for many of us, social media is a main point for information and our schools will adapt accordingly and keep you informed in other ways whenever possible.

National Mourning is a period of time for reflection in response to the passing of the Sovereign, or other member of the Royal Family or a very prominent person in national life.

Once again, on behalf of our entire community of schools, our sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. We are most thankful for her life, legacy and the unique contribution which she has made on the country and the world; an incredible role model to millions of people around the world and to our children.

We offer HM King Charles III our very best wishes as he becomes our Sovereign.

  • Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

Our community today joins the rest of the United Kingdom in a period of national mourning for the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

We will consider as a community how we can best commemorate HM Queen Elizabeth’s reign over the coming days and weeks.

We encourage the community to respect one another. Not everyone will feel the same thing. Some people will be feeling this loss deeply. Even if others do not share that feeling, they should be respectful and sensitive.

Schools remain open, and we will share further details in due course when we are clearer about the arrangements for schools at the time of the state funeral, and subsequent coronation of the King.
